An outdoor video installation revealing intimate views of the historic Tropical Ravine House at the Belfast Botanical Gardens. Based on texts from ‘The Little Prince,’ it is the story of a flower born in a pot, nurtured to live forever in a man-made house of glass. A unique Victorian-era greenhouse built in 1889, the heated glass and brick structure was constructed in a sunken glen to allow roots to grow into the ground. At dusk, video is projected upon the glass facade of the greenhouse; glistening images of foliage hint at a human presence which enables tropical plants such as ferns, palms and hibiscus to flourish in the cold climes of Ireland. Created during residency at Digital Artists Studios in Belfast, Northern Ireland.
